Did you know that the average adult spends about 6.5 hours a day in a chair? Okay, so the average is probably skewed by those who work at a desk from 9-5 five days a week. Still, think about it. When you’re not working, how much time is spent seated on a chair. The answer is more than you would think. We mean, are you standing up when you are watching television or reading a book, or surfing the internet, which by the way, the average adult spends about 7 hours a day on the internet. Really? Seven hours a day. Well, we do spend a lot of time on the internet looking to gain both useful and useless knowledge. Oh, and also shopping for stuff for our home, particularly our Man Cave.
Additionally, did you know that the average adult spends about three hours a day watching television? And did you know that the average male adult spends about 7.2 hours every Saturday and Sunday watching football while drinking an average of 62.6 ounces of beer each day. And to take it a step further, if it is raining on any of those days, the averages increase to 8.6 hours of watching football and consuming 71.3 ounces of beer. Okay, we completely made up these last two factual tidbits but we recognize there could be some truth to them.
So, what is the point of these intriguing actual facts and our own fabricated facts based on personal experience. The point is you need chairs in your Man Cave. And we’re not referring to bar chairs, as that would be a separate topic. We know we are stating the obvious. Rather, we need to dive into the main issue, which is what kind of chairs should you have in your Man Cave. And of course, like everything in life, there is a plethora of options, including, but not limited to, recliners, club chairs, and accent chairs. And what chairs you purchase may depend on your Man Cave theme. Is it Sports-related? Are you going for that club feel to your Man Cave? Cosmopolitan look? Or do you want something unique in your Man Cave. You know, something that will add the wow factor to your Man Cave, and impress your family and friends.
Still, here are 8 chairs for your Man Cave, in no particular order of ranking, that you can consider, whatever your Man Cave theme may be…
Leather Reclining Chair
WHY BUY THIS? If you are going for that traditional club look for your Man Cave, which we admire at Mancavia, a reclining leather chair or club chair is an essential item. In fact, if your custom-built bar is at a lower height (about 30-32 inches), recliners of club chairs can be used for bar seating. This particular chair is the Barcalounger Philadelphia, so you know it’s tough. You remember Philly fans throwing snowballs at Santa Clause, don’t you? Well, in case you didn’t, here is a short history lesson…
Back on topic. This is a power recliner too, so you don’t have to strain yourself trying to push the recliner back into a position of comfort. You just press a button. We also love the nail head trim accents as well as the color options, particularly the Ashford Walnut leather. But this chair is just comfortable. And that is what you want when you are watching football for 7.3 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. And lastly, this chair can be delivered in 1 to 3 weeks. Think about it. If you order a custom chair from a retailer, it could take at a minimum 6-8 weeks before you’ll be able to sit in it. That’s about half the football season. You can also consider the Barcalounger Longhorn II Recliner Chair, particularly the one in dark sanded bomber leather. Yeah, it must be from Texas.
Zero Gravity Massage Chair
WHY BUY THIS? Why not watch sports in your Man Cave and simultaneously get a message? Wait, that’s what you do in Vegas. If you are the type of person that is sore the day after engaging in some light yard work, then this chair is for you. It vibrates, just like your spouse’s is…well we don’t need to get into that. And you get a zero gravity experience. Seriously? For $250,000, you can actually experience zero gravity in space with Elon Musk. Or, for $2000, you can experience it in your Man Cave. Okay, it may not be the same, but if you slap some of these Glow in the Dark Star Stickers on the ceiling and take some psychedelic mushrooms, well it just might be. Disclaimer. We are not endorsing taking psychedelic mushrooms. Finally, this chair provides both massage and a heat function, kind of like the Audi A7. It’s described as a “Multi-pulse vibration nodes that gently massage away stress at the touch of a button and soothing heat to help sore muscles recover faster.” Who doesn’t want the ability to message away stress at the touch of the button? We’ll take it. Oh, and here is another Zero Gravity Massage Chair, which provides a Thai Stretch, whatever that is, and looks like a time machine. It’s tempting.
Power Recline Home Theater Seating
WHY BUY THIS? Home Theater seating is an efficient method to add additional seating for your Man Cave. And who doesn’t want a movie theater in their Man Cave. As described, this product is a “Full body reclining operated by control buttons located on the inside of the armrests gives you an unlimited number of seating positions to choose from. The high-density foam and memory foam seat topper will allow you to sink in the seat relieving muscle tension.” Again, who doesn’t want to relieve muscle tension after a long-day at the office. You just want to sit back and watch the Thursday night game while this chair whisks away that muscle tension built up throughout the day. This is equipped with cupholders (Tall Boy anyone?) and USB ports, and also has an accessory dock on the armrests for you to attach tray tables, reading lights, or any other accessories. So, you can eat your dinner, drink a beer and charge your phone at the same time. Is there a reason to raise your body from this modern day feature of comfort. Okay, maybe to go to the bathroom but you can always where some depends…we’re just sayin’. And if you are on the fence about whether you just purchase this for your Man Cave, just view the video. Imagine a row of 5 in your Man Cave. Hopefully, you have at least four friends.
Lord Raffles Leather Lion Throne Chair
WHY BUY THIS? Because this is a Throne’s Chair. Imagine the look on the faces of your buddies when they show up to your Man Cave and see you sitting in this chair. We agree. You deserve it. Yeah, it’s a bit pricey at just under $3,500. But again, it’s a friggin’ chair fit for a King, or a Lord in particular. For once and for all, show your buddies who wears the pants in your relationship. It’s hand-carved solid mahogany and “each piece is hand-upholstered by Toscano craftsmen.” Hey, we want to know how you become a Toscano craftsmen. The only other downside, besides the price, is this beauty is 68 inches tall. That’s, uh, five feet and eight inches, which is pretty high for a chair. But hey, the owner of the Man Cave should have the tallest chair in the room, and it should be the centerpiece. Maybe even build a platform for this directly in the middle of your Man Cave. Okay, nobody sitting behind you will be able to see the television, but does that matter. You’re the King. Oh, and it’s heavy too, at 86 pounds, and you don’t want to get a hernia, so you will need a couple of your buddies to help you carry this into your Man Cave. In fact, we think they should carry it in with you sitting on it while singing Tom Petty’s (RIP) “It’s Good to Be King.” Finally, you can also consider the Baroque Throne Chair for far less of a price.
Anthem Home Theater Seating
WHY BUY THIS? Because this is another Home Theater Seating option. We like the brown or black version, though the red is enticing. It is made with “Painstakingly, hand-selected genuine top grain leather from the top 30% quality of hides, for the finest touch, look, and durability.” Yeah, we too are curious as to how they determine which leather falls within the top 30 percent, but they must have some type of method. Features include “the center fold-down table that includes two cup holders, wireless and AC/USB charging and overhead lights, hidden in-arm storage.” So, each seat has two cupholders to allow you to go double-fisted. You know, an IPA in one cupholder and a Pilsner in the other. And this is another chair that has enough features to allow you to spend the entire day without moving from it. Still, you may want to get up once in a while to get the circulation flowing in your body parts. Or, just purchase this Bike Peddler you can use while you’re sitting in one of these chairs.
Metal Frame Leather Chair
WHY BUY THIS? This actually is a cool looking chair, and reasonably priced at around $1,265.00. It’s aviation-inspired design blends leather, metal, and sleek curves for handsome style. The downside is that it doesn’t recline and there does not appear to be a matching ottoman, though we’re sure you can find a black colored ottoman to match. Still, it’s comfortable without an ottoman, and would make a nice addition to any Man Cave. You can always purchase two chairs, and combine it with this Bourbon and Aged lron End Table…
Here is another option, a Half Whiskey Barrell Coffee Table…
Think about it. You add a television and this can be a separate viewing area your Man Cave.
Mid-Century Lounge Chair And Ottoman
WHY BUY THIS? Because this is a perfect chair to kick back and watch football all day in your Man Cave. It’s made with “genuine leather” and the “wide armrests, and ottoman will provide enough space for your body, and provide optimal comfort for you.” And this looks like a perfect chair for the mid-afternoon cat-nap. Yeah, you know what we’re talking about. The cat-naps you could never take when your kids were, well, kids.
Linen Push Back Recliner Chair
WHY BUY THIS? Because, even though this is not a leather recliner, it’s made with “a durable, easy-to-clean cloth fabric and filled with foam & sinuous springs in all the right places.” And no levers too. Simply push back to recline. But most importantly, it can be “assembled in less than 15 minutes.” You can do a lot of things in less than 15 minutes, but we never thought assembling furniture was one of them, though we suspect assembly merely consists of screwing on the chair legs.
Final Thoughts
Again, just like everything in life, there are plenty of choices. We think you can’t go wrong with any of these 8 chairs for your Man Cave. In fact, you can mix and match, and surround the Throne Chair with two leather recliners and then add a row of home theater seating on a raised platform. It all depends on the amount of space and how may viewing areas you have in your Man Cave. So, add a few chairs, and sit back, relax and enjoy the quality time spent in your Man Cave. Especially in the fall and during March Madness.
